Choral Director Opening

Purpose: To  provide the opportunity for adults with developmental and physical disabilities to participate in music and arts, regardless of their abilities. To nurture all in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

 

Commitment: Saturdays 9:45am- 12:45pm  September to June (excluding long weekends) 

Salary: $640/Month

 

Background Information: Choral Morphosis offers two programs that run back to back on Saturday mornings. First a Choral Program that is for anyone 16 and older with a love of music, singing, and movement, no matter their musical ability.  This is a well-established, non-auditioned program that prides itself in welcoming all ability levels.  The second program that runs is Choral Arts, which is a more advanced arts program for those 16 and older who are looking for something a bit more challenging.  It incorporates choreography, singing, script reading and acting.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and select music for weekly rehearsals.

• Prepare and select music for 2 concerts a year and any other performance opportunities that may arise. 

• Run rehearsals that are welcoming, enthusiastic.

• Communicate with accompanist music plans ahead of time to allow adequate preparation. 

• Run rehearsals on zoom and in person at the same time when necessary. 

• Run rehearsals solely on zoom when necessary. 

• Communicate with the program director.

• Seek new performance opportunities. 

 

Qualifications

• Musical training is essential. 

• A Music Degree or a student in a Music degree program is preferred. 

• Experience working with persons with disabilities would be an asset.  

• First Aid would be an asset.
